Educational Technology 2: Information Technology in Support of Student-Centered Learning

Traditional and Student-centered learning classrooms have advantages and disadvantages. Yet, in modern days, student-centered learning approaches were much preferable than the old one.

Learning should be student-centered. The students should get involved in authentic tasks and hand-on experiences to attain better learning. Students should also be active in acquiring knowledge through discovery and exploration. By the use of information technology, students can gather vast amounts of information to discover. They can also share, interact and communicate with other people to maximize learning. Yet, the role of the teacher does not end. The teacher must be an active facilitator and guide for the students.
